Final Stats
Burgandy McCurty had 32 kills but it wasn't enough as Loyola snuck past Siena 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 26-24, 25-19) Sunday in Baltimore. Siena now holds just a half game lead over Canisius for the critical fourth spot in the MAAC standings. The top four teams qualify for the conference championships.
Karlee Woodward and Nina Camaioni provided the offense for the Greyhounds. Woodward had 16 kills on .423 hitting and put up a total of six blocks, two solo. Camaioni had 18 kills and also chipped in eight digs and a block.
Brittany Born had a match-high 16 digs and made not one error in 42 passes. Camaioni was also perfect through 17 receptions.
McCurty entered the week ranked second nationally with well over five kills per set. On Sunday, she did her job, but didn't get much help. McCurty posted a .481 attack percentage yet the Saints managed to hit just .207 as a team.
The match turned after the two teams split the first two sets when Loyola managed a 26-24 victory in the third set. The Greyhounds went on to post a decisive 25-19 win in the fourth set.
Siena will have a week to prepare for a MAAC title rematch with conference-leader Fairfield on Saturday at UHY Court.
