The Siena swimming and diving team dominated from start to finish Wednesday night, defeating Holy Cross 151-91 in Worcester, Mass. The Saints won 11 of 13 events on the evening in improving to 2-2 while the Crusaders fell to 0-3.
"I thought it was a real complete effort today," remarked head coach Greg Brown. "We moved some of the team around with different events, but everyone still continued to swim strong."
Junior Brittany Pavolko was one of five Saints to post multiple wins in the meet, leading the way with three total. Pavolko paced the pool in the 200 free (2:00.32) and 200 fly (2:15.34) while also teaming up with Molly Chamberlain, Meaghan Brauer and Caitlyn Biagioli to capture the 200 free relay in a time of 1:43.94.
"It was nice to see Brittany win some events today," noted Brown. "She has had some really tough matchups of late, so it was nice for her to go out and swim hard and pick up some victories along the way."
Additional multiple event winners including Elizabeth Rice, Katie Ness, Biagioli and Chamberlain. Rice swept the diving portion yet again with scores of 213.29 in 1-meter dives and 210 in 3-meter dives, while Ness won the 50 free (:24.97) and 100 free (:54.81). Biagioli meanwhile added an individual victory in the 200 back (2:18.59), while Chamberlain picked up a win in the 500 free (5:18.31).
Rounding out Siena event winners were Britney Anderer in the 200 breast (2:30.19) and Bethany Fried in the 1000 free (11:04.30).
The Saints return to action in two weeks when they head south to face C.W. Post. The meet is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in Brookville, N.Y.
