Burgandy McCurty led all players with 28 kills and Aubrey Bobo added 23 kills and a match-high 25 digs as Siena shook off consecutive MAAC losses to post an impressive 3-1 win at Canisius Sunday. The Saints knocked off the Griffs 25-17, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-23.
Siena enjoyed one of its better offensive games of the season, again turning to two setters to get the job done. Freshman Sarah Sivertson finished with 30 assists and senior captain Kau'i Robello had 30 assists and 13 digs. Robello got the call at the end of the match, closing out the setting after the Griffs grabbed a big lead in set three and then finishing the job with solid setting in the fourth set.
The Saints posted a strong .286 attack percentage for the match and out-killed Canisius 69-57. Siena also controlled a 63-50 edge in assists and a 73-64 advantage in digs.
Canisius was led by Samantha Good who killed 21 of her 42 attacks. Renee Lettow had 12 kills and 16 digs.
Bobo played one of the best matches of her career. She connected on 23 of her 47 attacks and played a role in three of the Saints 10 blocks. Freshman Jasmine Brown was in on six blocks and had seven kills in 17 attacks.
Not to be out-done, McCurty's 28 kills came on 70 attacks.
The Saints have two big MAAC matches next weekend, travelling to rival Fairfield on Saturday before hosting Manhattan Sunday.
