Final Stats
Sophomore center back Maren Serafine scored her first career goal in the 22nd minute as the Siena women's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 win at Rider Friday afternoon. The win marks Siena's 10th of the season, a benchmark the program has reached for the second straight year and four of the last six years. Ashleigh Barone and Caitlin Cahalan each scored goals and Laura Ettinger and Liz Barna combined for the shutout.
Serafine scored the eventual game winning goal after a corner kick. The ball was sent in and Tabitha Tice took a shot that hit the post. Serafine finished her shot from five yards away. Barone made it 2-0 nine minutes later when she headed a loose ball past goalkeeper Alex Post.
Siena (10-2, 4-1) outshot Rider (4-8-1, 0-4) 10-4 in the first half and 13-8 in the game.
Cahalan scored her team leading eighth goal of the season in the 75th minute. Freshman Nicole Daly played a through ball and Cahalan ran on to it and fired it into the goal. Cara Riley led all players with four shots.
Ettinger (7-2) made three saves in the win. She was replaced by Barna for the final 10:53. Post made one save in defeat.
Siena returns to action this Sunday when it plays at Loyola (8-4-2, 4-0). Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
