The Siena swimming and diving team ran their winning streak to four with all of the victories coming on the road as they swept host Manhattan and Fairfield 98-15 and 73-49 respectively Saturday afternoon in Riverdale, N.Y. The Saints paced the pool in eight of 14 total events.
The Saints (5-2, 3-0) set the tone early by setting a new school record time in the 400 medley relay. The team of Katie Ness, Britney Anderer, Brittany Pavolko and Caitlyn Biagioli swam to a time of 4:01.04 to break the six year old school record by a quarter of a second.
"The 400 medley relay really set the tone for the meet today," said head coach Greg Brown. "After that win the team's excitement was off the charts."
After winning three events in Friday's win at C.W. Post, Pavolko finished with a meet-high four wins on Saturday. In addition to her contribution in the school-record 400 medley relay time, Pavolko also captured pool pacing times in the 200 fly (2:14.73) and 100 fly (1:00.88), while combining with Ness, MaryAnn Gaffuri and Molly Chamberlain to win the 400 free relay in a time of 3:41.32.
Newcomers Ness and Anderer finished with three total wins on the day, with Ness adding an individual win the 100 back (1:01.92) and Anderer tallying victories in the 100 breast (1:07.56) and 200 IM (2:14.15). Caitlyn Biagioli accounted for the team's other overall victory by finishing the 200 back in a time of 2:15.96.
The Saints return to action by concluding a seven-meet road trip in Poughkeepsie Saturday when they battle Binghamton and host Marist at 1 p.m.
