The Siena women's golf team couldn't hold a modest four stroke lead as Towson rallied to top Siena and capture the Lonnie Barton Memorial Invitational Championship this afternoon in Savannah, Ga. The Tigers were ten shots better than the Saints in the final round to win by just six strokes.
Siena led following the first day with a team round of 331, but shot just 351 on the final day. Towson, which was four strokes back at 335, had an impressive final round of 341 to capture the win. Host Long Island finished third overall in the six team field.
Katelynn Mannix led Siena, finishing third overall with rounds of 80 and 82. Senior captain Bridget Carr was one shot back overall in fourth with Catherine Shomo sixth. The Blackbirds Natalie Desjardins shot a two round score of 158 to win the individual championship.
The Saints return to action Mar. 30 for the Hoya Women's Invitational hosted by Georgetown in Beallsville, Md.
