The Siena women's golf team surged to fourth place this afternoon following the completion of the first two rounds of the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invite in Littlestown, Pa. The Saints are just 20 shots behind clubhouse leader Towson through the first day.
The Tigers, who came from behind to edge Siena for the Lonnie Barton Memorial team title last month, shot a team score of 618 through the first 36 holes. Fairleigh Dickinson (625) was second with Long Island (634) just ahead of the Saints (638) for third. MAAC rival Fairfield rounded out the top five, 11 strokes behind the Siena contingent.
Katelynn Mannix leads the Saints through the first two rounds with a +8 score of 152. Mannix is tied for fourth overall, just five shots behind clubhouse leader Eva Mayr of FDU who is at +3.
Senior captain Bridget Carr and sophomore Catherine Shomo also had strong first days for Siena. The duo is tied for 12th overall, having shot identical scores of 160 Monday.
Final round action gets underway tomorrow.
