Three Saints placed in the top-10 overall for the second time this spring as the Siena women's golf team finished fourth overall at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invite which concluded Tuesday afternoon in Littlestown, Pa. Towson won the event edging second place Fairleigh Dickinson by a mere four strokes.

"Overall I am very pleased with the progress this young team has made this year and were looking forward to defending our MAAC title in late April," remarked head coach Dave Wronowski.

Sophomore standout Katelynn Mannix (75-77-85) battled along with her teammates through poor weather conditions all afternoon long to finish eighth overall. Senior captain Bridget Carr and sophomore Catherine Shomo placed just four shots behind Mannix in tying each other for ninth overall.

It marked the second time this spring that this trio finished in the top-10 individually. Last month at the Lonnie Barton Memorial in Savannah, Ga., they all finished in the top six as the Saints finished second overall.

Long Island's Natalie Desjardins (77-71-77) won the individual crown. The Blackbirds finished third, just four strokes ahead of the Saints. MAAC rival Fairfield meanwhile was six shots back of Siena, rounding out the top five.

The Saints conclude the 2008-09 season with the MAAC Championships which begin Apr. 24 in Celebration, Fla. as they look to win a record ninth straight title.
