Final Stats
Sophomore Jill Roth scored her first career goal in overtime to give Siena a 2-1 win at Providence Friday afternoon. The Saints have won their last two games in extra time as they defeated New Hampshire 3-2 in double overtime last Sunday.
Siena (2-1) was outshot 31-9 but Providence only put eight of its attempts on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Ettinger made seven saves to earn her second win of the season and 15th of her career. The Friars held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Siena took a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute on freshman Caitlin Cahalan's second goal of the season. Her 15-yard shot was assisted by Ashleigh Barone.
Providence (3-2-1) tied the game 11 minutes later as Jill Camburn sent a 25-yard strike over the head of Ettinger. Camburn registered 10 shots but put just two on goal.
Roth ended the game just 4:43 into overtime. She scored on a close shot following a free kick in the right corner. Cahalan had the assist for her third point of the game.
Siena returns to action this Sunday when it hosts Holy Cross. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
