Aubrey Bobo had 14 kills and nine digs and freshman setter Sarah Sivertson recorded 35 assists and 10 digs as Siena downed Rider 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-18) at UHY Court in the ARC Sunday. Burgandy McCurty added 13 kills in the win.
Siena survived a competitive first set 25-22, and then dominated the action the rest of the way. They coasted to a 25-12 win in the second set, posting a .296 attack percentage, and pulled out a comfortable 25-18 win in the third set.
The Saints dominated every facet of the match, but their defense was most impressive. Rider finished with a .026 attack percentage as the Saints racked up 59 digs compared to just 38 for the Broncs. Libero Lesli Akeo led the way with 14 digs for Siena, senior captain Kau'i Robello chipped in 10 and was in on two of the team's eight blocks.
Rider was led by Katelyn Thompson who had nine kills in 40 attacks. Libero Amy Jeary led all players with 16 digs.
Siena, now 2-0 in the MAAC, returns to action at Iona on Saturday.
