LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Swimming and Diving swept a quad-meet competition Sunday afternoon at Siena Swim Center, defeating opponents Bryant (153-80), NJIT (200-21) and MAAC foe Canisius (169.5-72.5). Additionally, Bryant defeated both Canisius and NJIT, with the Golden Griffins topping the Highlanders, while on the men's side Canisius registered wins over both Bryant and NJIT, with the Bulldogs capturing a victory over the NJIT men.
"I thought the ladies performed extremely well today," noted head coach Greg Brown. "It was great to be back home for competition."
Siena (9-5, 4-2) captured overall victories in eight of 13 events on the women's side with Caitlyn Biagioli, Molly Chamberlain, Katie Ness, Brittany Pavolko and Elizabeth Rice winning two events apiece.
Bryant posted overall wins in the other five events, with Molly Smith leading all swimmers with three total individual victories for the meet.
Rice once again swept the diving competition, posting scores of 236.50 and 237.40 in one and three-meter dives respectively. Meanwhile, Biagioli (50 free 200 FR), Chamberlain (200 free, 400 MR), Ness (100 free, 200 FR) and Pavolko (100 fly, 400 MR) all won one individual and one relay event apiece.
"I was especially please with the performances of Bethany Fried, Katie Ness and Caitlyn Biagioli," added Brown. "Additionally, Elizabeth Rice was outstanding on the boards today for the second meet in a row."
The Saints return to action for the middle meet of their regular-season ending three meet homestand Saturday against Saint Francis (Pa.). Events get underway from the Siena Swim Center at 1 p.m.
