LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena's pool saw record times in four events Saturday. However, three were recorded by the Vermont Catamounts, who topped the Saints, 161 - 137, in a non-conference matchup.
The Catamounts (4-1) set new pool bests in the 200 free (1:54.80), 200 fly (2:09.66), and 400 IM (4:32.37), the last of which assured Vermont of a team victory. However, the Saints (0-2) finished with a flourish, as the team of Molly Chamberlain, Katie Ness, Dana Tricarico, and Brittany Pavolko lowered the pool record in the 400 free relay by over a second (3:37.82).
"That was a tremendous race," Siena head coach Paul Kueterman said. "You can't ask for anything more than a pool record in the last race of the day."
Chamberlain, Ness, and Pavolko, as well as Britney Anderer and Kaela Bjornberg, all swam to two wins apiece on the afternoon. In diving, Elizabeth Rice swept the one and three-meter events.
The Saints will be in search of their first win of the year on Wednesday night, when they host Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
