It was obvious Sunday that the new-look Siena rotation is going to need some time to gel. The Saints lost two close sets and then Loyola steamrolled its way to a sweep (25-22, 25-23 and 25-15) with a convincing score in the third, sending Siena to its fifth loss in six matches.
Nina Camaioni had 17 kills and 10 digs to lead the resurgent Greyhounds (11-16/5-7). Nicole Sarby had 13 kills and hit .440 for the match. Loyola also swept Marist yesterday in Poughkeepsie.
Taylor Akana had 17 kills and 14 digs to pace Siena. She hit .368 for the match.
Aubrey Bobo registered eight kills in 32 attacks, making her second straight start after missing 19 matches with concussion symptoms. Bobo did flash signs of brilliance, including a monster kill at the 10-foot line late in the match.
Siena showed its most heart in the second set after falling behind early 8-1. They rallied to within a single point, 24-23, before losing the set on a clever loft kill by Katie Dircks.
Loyola dominated the action at the net, controlling an 8-1 advantage in blocks.
Siena's Lesli Akeo had 18 digs to lead all players.
The Saints start a five-match road trip at Hoftsra Tuesday.
