BALTIMORE, Md. - Loyola shot 50% from the field and led throughout, defeating Siena 68-50 in the regular season finale in Baltimore Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Siena is the No. 7 seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament and will face No. 10 Rider on Thursday at 12 p.m.
Siena and Loyola entered the game tied for sixth and the Saints could have finished as high as fifth or sixth in the league standings with a win. With similar Tournament implications last year, the Saints defeated Loyola 77-71 in double overtime in the regular season finale, clinching the No. 6 seed and avoiding the Opening Round game.
Loyola used a 13-2 run to open up a 13-point lead with 4:03 left in the first half. Siena made five of its last six shots to end the half and make it an eight-point game (31-23).
Serena Moore carried the offense in the second half as she scored the team's first nine points. She scored 15 second half points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and finished with her sixth double-double of the season (23 points and 12 rebounds).
Siena cut the deficit to eight points four different times but couldn't get any closer. The Saints made up ground with junior Missy Ramsey on the floor. They outscored Loyola 33-29 in the 18 minutes she played. Ramsey finished with two points, two rebounds and one steal.
Senior forward Sarah Fullmer averaged 19.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the last two games against Loyola. She finished with no points and eight rebounds.
Kaitlin Grant led the Greyhounds with 19 points on 8-of-11 shots and had seven rebounds, five steals and three assists. Miriam McKenzie and Erica DiClemente each had 15 points.
