Siena women's golf took a step closer to an unprecedented 10th straight conference championship Friday by taking the clubhouse lead at the 2010 MAAC Championships in Celebration, Fla. Siena (317) leads Fairfield by two strokes through the first 18 of 54 holes in the newly expanded six-team MAAC field.

League newcomers UAlbany (328), Hartford (329), Boston University (330) and Niagara (422) all trail the Saints following the first round. Senior captain Bridget Carr also serves as the individual leader following a course-pacing round of 74. Carr got off to an impressive start, shooting 35 on the front nine and led all players in par 4 scoring (4.10).

MAAC Golfer of the Month Catherine Shomo (T-7th) and Cortney Tilley (T-10th) also rank in the top-10. Katelynn Mannix is tied for 12th overall after tying the course lead with 11 pars.

Second round action gets underway Saturday morning.
