Women's Golf Extends Lead at MAAC Championships

May 1, 2010

Siena women's golf took a big leap forward on their quest for an unprecedented 10th straight conference championship during the Second Round of the 2010 MAAC Championships in Celebration, Fla. The Saints dominated the links all day long, shooting 15 strokes better than any other school and extended their lead to a commanding 19 strokes over second place Fairfield.

The Saints (628), shot a tournament-low score of 311 Saturday, six strokes better than even their strong first round performance. Fairfield (647) now ranks a distant second, with Hartford (655) all but out of legitmate contention in third.

Senior tri-captain Bridget Carr (151) continues to hold the overall lead as well, following a round of 77. She holds the overall lead by one stroke over Hartford's Sarah Sideranko (152) and by two strokes over teammate and fellow captain Catherine Shomo (153). Shomo shot a course-low 73 on Saturday.

Katelynn Mannix (7th-161) and Cortney Tilley (9th-164) also continue to rank in the top-10.

The final round of the MAAC Championships tees off Sunday morning.
