Siena women's golf finished seventh at the Yale Intercollegiate over the weekend. Senior captain Catherine Shomo continued her remarkable fall season by finishing fifth overall.
"Our seniors played great all weekend," commented head coach Dave Wronowski. "Katelynn has been close the past two weeks and put in a great effort today. Shomo gave one of the program's greatest performances despite an injury that almost kept her home this weekend."
The host Bulldogs led throughout the weekend and comfortably finished ahead of second place challenger and Ivy League foe Penn by 13 strokes. Siena finished in the top half of the 14-team field and was 30 strokes better than the only other MAAC participant, Hartford.
Shomo, who has kept all her rounds in the 70s so far this fall, scored 74, 71 and 76 for the weekend to finish at +5. Yale's Seo Hee Moon won the event at -6.
After putting up back-to-back rounds of 77, Katelynn Mannix led the Saints with a season-low score of 72 Sunday to finish 12th and round out the Siena leaderboard.
The Saints return to the links Oct. 10 when they square off with crosstown rival and MAAC foe UAlbany.
