Despite being away from competition for a month, the Siena swimming and diving team showed no signs of rust on Saturday, going undefeated in a tri meet against St. Francis (N.Y.) and Bryant. The Saints thumped Saint Francis 222-30, and tied host Bryant 131-131.
The Saints (7-2-1) made waves with a pair of pool records. Junior Katie Ness set a new standard in the 50 free with a time of :24.41, and the group of Caitlyn Biagioli, Brittany Pavolko, Dana Tricarico, and Ness swam the 200 free relay in 1:39.76, winning that event by nearly two and a half seconds.
Pavolko was also a winner in two other events, leading the Saints with three wins on the afternoon. She took down the 200 fly, keying a 1-2-3 Siena finish ahead of Kaela Bjornberg and Nicole Hagi. Later in the day, she and Bjornberg finished 1-2 again in the 100 fly.
Bjornberg did manage a win of her own, taking down the 200 breast. The other Siena winner was Britney Anderer, who took first in the 100 breast.
Siena will be back in action next Saturday, as they travel to Northeastern.
