The Siena volleyball team completed a winning weekend in the Big Apple with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-15, 25-14 and 25-11) triumph at Saint Peter's Sunday afternoon. The Saints shook off a sluggish start to improve their MAAC record to 4-6 with a pair of home matches on the docket next weekend.
The Peahens fell to 0-22 on the season, while Siena upped its overall record to 6-12.
Siena's Taylor Akana led all players with 23 kills, while libero Lesli Akeo contributed a match-high 15 digs.
Saint Peter's won the first four points of the match, and after Siena rallied to take a brief 7-6 lead, the Peahens controlled the set in a 25-19 win. After that, the match belonged to the Saints.
Siena posted decisive 25-15, 25-14 and 25-11 victories to close out the match. The 14-point win in set four marked the largest margin of victory for Siena all season.
By taking care of business with wins at Manhattan and Saint Peter's this weekend, the Saints have given themselves a chance to climb back into the MAAC race. The next league tests come in Loudonville next weekend, where Siena hosts Rider Saturday and Loyola Sunday.
