Binghamton defeated Siena in straight sets (25-18, 25-19 and 25-20) Wednesday evening at West Gym. It was the third straight loss for the Saints after a season-opening victory over Youngstown State August 29.

The Bearcats (3-6) earned head coach Glenn Kiriyama his 200th career victory with the win.

In the first set Binghamton rushed out to an early 4-1 lead, but Siena was able to fight back tying the match at five. The Bearcats regained the lead on back-to-back kills by sophomore middle Grace Vickers, making the score 12-9. Errors by Siena started a BU 4-0 run, pushing the Bearcats' lead to seven, 17-10. Solid defense and a kill by freshman outside hitter Kristin Hovie sealed the first set for Binghamton 25-18.

The Bearcats took a two-sets-to-none advantage after breaking open an evenly played frame early on. With the scored knotted at 11, BU rattled off a 5-2 run to take a slim 16-13 lead. A pair of service aces by junior Iva Partaleva gave Binghamton a 21-17 advantage, which they would go on to close out 25-19.

In the final set BU had to come from behind, trailing at several points throughout the third frame. The set went back and forth as Siena battled to stay in the match. Binghamton would tie the match five times down the stretch finally taking the lead on an Amanda Dettmann ace. A pair of kills by junior middle Alex Roland gave BU a 19-16 lead heading into the final points. Kills by Hovie and Dettmann coupled with Siena errors allowed Binghamton to take the set 25-20.
