Saints Swept in Western New York

Jan. 14, 2012

Complete Results

Siena swimming and diving returned to action Saturday after over a month off needing one win to tie the program's single-season win record and two to break it. Instead, the Saints left Buffalo empty-handed, dropping 74-39 and 60-45 decisions to Canisius and Gannon at a tri meet hosted by the Golden Griffins.

Siena (9-5, 2-1 MAAC) won three events on the afternoon. Freshman Amanda Podczerwinski won two of them, placing first in both the 200 IM (2:13.86) and 200 back (2:10.18). She also placed third as part of Siena's 400 free relay team, which clocked in at 3:43.83.

Classmate Shannon Love also paced the pool Saturday, winning the 50 free in :25.02. Love also finished second in the 100 free (:55.50) and third as part of the 200 medley relay team (1:54.49).

The sweep gave Siena its first loss since October 29, when the Saints fell at regional power Vermont. The Green and Gold have two dual meets left on the 2011-12 schedule, and get another shot at the program's second-ever 10-win season on January 21 at C.W. Post.
