St. John's Stops Siena Volleyball

Aug. 29, 2012

Final Stats

St. John's set the tone early in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20 and 25-21) sweep of Siena Wednesday night in a non-league match in Queens. Karin Palgutova and Milica Krstojevic each posted double digit kills for the Red Storm (4-1).

Siena (2-3) struggled to find its way on offense. Taylor Akana had nine kills in 34 attacks and added nine digs, but hit just .088 for the match. Jacqueline Skeen killed six of her 14 attacks.

Setter Sarah Sivertson had just 18 assists after earning All-Tournament recognition this weekend. She ended up sharing duties with classmate Elizabeth Ives.

Palgutova had an extremely efficient match, posting a .579 attack percentage to go along with six digs for St. John's.

Senior libero Lesli Akeo was one of few bright spots for Siena registering a match-high 14 digs in the three sets. The Saints had just two blocks and two aces in the match.

Siena will look to even up its record Friday night when it travels back to New York to face Hofstra in the First Round of the Pride Invitational in Hempstead in 7 p.m.
