Marist Pulls Away Late, Beats Saints

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Marist went on an 11-0 run late in the second half and pushed past Siena Women's Basketball 66-48 in front of a crowd of 1,037 for National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the ARC. Clara Sole Anglada led the Saints with 12 points.

Siena (9-13, 5-7) and Marist (17-6, 12-0) were locked in a tight battle for the first 30 minutes, with the Red Foxes harboring a 44-40 lead. But the seven-time defending MAAC Champions held Siena scoreless for the next five and a half minutes and hit key shots down the stretch to beat the Saints for the 19th straight time.

Marist shot 55.6% (15-27) from the field in the second half, while limiting Siena to just 30.3% (10-33) in the stanza and 0-11 from three.

The Red Foxes shut down Lily Grenci, limiting the Saints' leading scorer to just seven points and four rebounds. Tehresa Coles added nine points and four assists and the bench played well contributing 18 points.

Casey Dulin led a balanced scoring attack for Marist with 14 points, while Kristina Danella added 13 off the bench as both players shot 6-8 from the field. Elizabeth Beynnon (12 points) and Emma O'Connor (10 points, nine rebounds) also scored in double figures for the Red Foxes which won their 22nd straight conference game and have won 56 of their last 57 overall.

Siena continues its season long four-game homestand Friday when the Saints host Rider at 7 p.m. at the ARC. The contest marks the Saints' 13th Annual Pink Zone Game presented by Berkshire Bank.
