Siena Swimming and Diving opened their home schedule Wednesday night with a strong 171-122 win over visiting Holy Cross. The Saints won 12 of the 16 events on the day en route to the victory.
Siena started the night off on the right foot when the relay team of Katherine Canavan, Kelsey Helin, Amanda York, and Shannon Love won the 200-medley relay after swimming a 1:56.51. Junior Megan Grace won both distance events of the night, winning the 1000 free with a time of 1:53.84 and the 500 free with a time of 5:20.51.
Junior Hailey Beers swept the diving events scoring 248.05 in the 1-meter and 235.55 in the 3-meter dive. Erica Askew won two events as well, taking the 100 and 200 breast, picking up 18 points for the Siena. Eight different Saints won events on the night to help Siena stay in front.
"I was very happy with the way the meet went," said head coach Paul Kueterman, "we definitely have some things to work on, but I am happy with our performance today."
The Saints return to action this Saturday when they travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption College at 4 pm. Siena defeated Assumption 168.5-125.5 last season.
