LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – C'quoya Haughton led four Broncs in double figures with a career-high 16 points as Rider handed Siena Women's Basketball its first MAAC defeat of the season, 70-58 at Alumni Gymnasium. Sophomore guard Kollyns Scarbrough paced the Saints with a career-high tying 19 points.

Rider (4-13, 1-7) led throughout and by double figures for the majority of the second half as Siena (10-8, 7-1) had its six-game winning streak snapped.

The Broncs came out firing from the start, shooting a sizzling 54.8% (17-31) in the first half. Rider, which had entered play shooting just 33.6% on the season, added 28 points in the paint in the opening stanza to take a 41-30 lead at the break. Haughton scored 14 of her points in the opening frame on 7-9 shooting to set the tone early.

Rider led by as many as 14 points in the second half, although Siena made a mini run late. The Saints scored six straight points to pull within six with 2:17 to play, but could get no closer as the Broncs finished by scoring eight of the final 10 points.

Sophomore guard Joella Gibson posted a career-high 11 points in making her second straight start for Siena which saw its 11-game MAAC regular season winning streak come to an end. Freshman guard Jackie Benitez added seven points and eight rebounds and fellow reserve Symone Kelly contributed seven rebounds and a career-high five blocks off the bench.

Julia Duggan recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Rider which halted an eight-game losing streak. Kamila Hoskova added 12 points and four steals for the Broncs which scored 24 points off 25 Siena turnovers.

Siena returns to the Capital Region for its final home game of January when the Saints host Canisius at the ARC Friday night at 7 p.m.
