Siena Swimming was back in the pool on Monday afternoon to battle MAAC opponent Fairfield. The Stags bested the Saints in the meet, 142-95. Maggie Fletcher and Fiona Dretzka picked up one individual victory each for Siena.
In the team's second meet in three days, Siena opened with a win in the 400 medley relay (4:37.63) with a team of Dretzka, Erica Askew, Elizabeth Fournier, and Colleen McDonough. In the next event, the 800 freestyle, Emma Rupert (9:38.95) and Carrie Bonvissuto (9:52.56) finished in second and third for the Saints.
Senior co-captain Fletcher took home the victory in the 200 freestyle (2:15.32), narrowly edging past freshman teammate Katie Ludwicki (2:15.33). McDonough added a second place finish in the 50 freestyle (28.88) and Dretzka placed second in the 200 IM (2:32.62). Then, Fairfield scored a crucial 16 points in 1 meter diving, and later 16 more in 3 meter, events in which the Saints did not compete.
Fournier started off the second part of the meet with a second place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:30.69). A few races later, Dretzka would secure the victory in the 200 backstroke (2:30.22). Rupert then added another runner-up for Siena in the 400 freestyle (4:46.55).
The Saints would close out the meet with a second place in the 400 freestyle relay (4:16.29) with a team of Ludwicki, Alyssa Lewis, Maggie Davenport, and Fletcher.
Siena will compete in one more dual meet this season on Saturday, January 21 at 1 p.m. at Saint Francis (PA) before the MAAC Championships begin on February 8.
