Holy Cross Tops Siena

Siena Swimming and Diving fell to Holy Cross Wednesday afternoon 177-98. Freshman Kylie George took home two first place finishes and placed in the top three in her other two events.

Junior Emma Rupert took second place in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:04.13. In the 200 yard freestyle sophomore Rachel Brown took third with a time of 2:03.33.

The 100 yard backstroke was a close finish for the top four. Senior Fiona Dretzka took third place with a time of 1:03.43.

In the 100 yard breaststroke George took first place with a time of 1:09.93. Her first collegiate first place finish as well as her first of the season.

Junior Co-Captain Elizabeth Fournier took third place in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.24 narrowly edging out her teammate junior Julianna Sebastian who came in fourth with a time of 2:17:27.

Junior Francesca Tinucci finished second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.12.

In the 200 yard breaststroke George took home her second first place finish of the meet with a time of 2:30.35 beating out senior teammate Erica Askew who followed with second place and a time of 2:33.56.

In the 500 yard freestyle, freshman Sydney Lautenslager took second place with a time of 5:24.48.

Saints took first, second, and third in the 200 yard IM. Rupert took first place (2:19.49), followed by George (2:22.15), and rounded out by Dretzka (2:27.89).

Siena closed out the meet taking first, second, and third in the 200 freestyle relay. First place was given to Tinucci, sophomore Alyssa Lewis, sophomore Carrie Bonvissuto, and Brown with a final time of 1:44.80. Second was given to the team consisting of sophomore Katelyn Ludwicki, senior Brigid Wynne, freshman Natalie Valachovic, and junior Maggie Davenport with a final time of 1:48.10. And finally freshman Shannon Leary, Askew, Lautenslager, and senior Sinead Guy placed third with a time of 1:48.39.

Saints will travel to Niagara, New York to take on MAAC rival Niagara as well as non-conference foe Binghamton at 1p.m. this Saturday October 21st.
