Final Stats

After tying it up 1-1 at the intermission, Siena Volleyball dropped the next two sets to fall 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-15, 25-15) to Marist in Poughkeepsie. The Red Foxes have won both matchups between the league rivals this season.

Antonija Ivanovic and Samantha Pethokoukis led the Saints (3-19, 3-8 MAAC) with nine kills a piece. Katarina Nicic added eight kills for Siena. Jojo Ishida tallied 21 digs, while Jessica Eblin dished out 29 assists.

Nikki DeSerpa recorded a match-high 13 kills for Marist (11-11, 8-3 MAAC). Taylor VanDerBiezen dished out 32 assists, while Katie Brierley notched 15 digs.

Marist jumped out to the early lead holding on a 12-6 advantage. Behind Sarah Austin, the Red Foxed recorded a 4-0 run to take a 16-6 lead. Siena would continue to battle and trail Marist 23-14. The Saints would record two attack errors that pushed the Red Foxes to a first set victory 25-14.

The Saints came out swinging in the second set and went up 10-4 early in the frame, which caused Marist to use a timeout. After battling back and forth the Saints forced the Red Foxes to use their second timeout as Siena led 15-7. Behind the serving of Tyla Parker, the Saints went on a 6-0 run to lead 24-16. Marist made a comeback fighting off the Saints set point for six straight points. Eblin would record the kill and give Siena the set 25-22. The Saints and Red Foxes would enter intermission tied 1-1.

Up 5-1 early in the third set, Marist continued to hold the advantage just slightly up 12-10. The Red Foxes would then go on a 5-0 run to hold onto a 17-10 lead. Siena battled and trailed just 22-15, but Marist would record the next three points to take the set 25-15.

Siena jumped out in front to start the fourth frame up 11-5. Marist came right back and tied the set up at 11. The Red Foxes then went on a 6-1 run to lead 17-12 late in the fourth set. Siena would trail by just five, 20-15, but Marist, like most of the sets would take the final five points and seal the set victory 25-15.

Siena will return back to the Capital Region to host Saint Peter's on Saturday, October 28. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
