Final Stats

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena completed the weekend with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18) victory over Rider. The Saints tallied 11 service aces as a team to help propel them to victory. The Saints and Broncs have now split the regular season with each team winning on their respective home courts.

Antonija Ivanovic notched a double-double with a match-high 18 kills and 22 digs and four service aces. Dakota Jackson added 17 kills for the Saints (5-19, 5-8 MAAC), while Jojo Ishida tallied three service aces and 18 digs.

Junior right side Hailey Riede recorded a team-high 12 kills for Rider (14-12, 8-6 MAAC), while Veronica Koval tallied a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs. The Broncs had eight blocks as a team.

Rider started off quickly in the first set and took the first four points coming off of three kills and an a service ace for a 4-0 lead. After trailing 13-10, Siena went on a 5-0 run to jump ahead 15-13. The league foes exchanged points back and forth with the Saints holding onto a slight lead before the Broncs went on a run of their own to jump back ahead 19-16. After being tied at 22, Rider took the next three points to take the first set 25-22.

In a second set that would hold 12 ties and six lead changes, Siena grabbed the final two points with kills from Ivanovic and Nicole Deobler to win the set 25-23. Going into intermission the Saints held onto a run that tied up the match 1-1.

Just like the second set, there would be eight ties and three lead changes in the third frame. It was a tight set that would end with the Saints finishing on a 3-0 run with a final kill from Dakota Jackson to take the third set 25-21 and lead the match 2-1 over the Broncs.

Rider started off the fourth set strong and forced the Saints to work hard for that win, but with Ivanovic behind the line, the Saints took a 12-10 lead that they would never relinquish. Siena continued to fight and with a kill from Samantha Pethokoukis, the Saints would win their second straight match.

The Saints remain in Loudonville, New York to continue their season-long four-match homestand Saturday, November 4 when Siena hosts Niagara. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
