Army West Point Shuts Out Saints

Monroe Makes Four Saves, McGlynn Tallies Four Shots

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Eric Whiteman headed in a pair of goals less than four minutes apart to propel Army West Point past Siena Soccer 3-0 at Siena Turf Field. Greg Monroe made four saves for the Saints.

Carter Kowaleski added an insurance tally late in the second half for Army West Point (2-2-1) which improved to 7-0-1 in the all-time series. The Black Knights held a 16-7 advantage in shots and an 8-4 margin in corners.

Conor McGlynn registered a team-high four shots for Siena (0-3-3), while narrowly missing a pair of goals himself. His 40th minute shot was cleared off the line by a defender, and his header in the 58th minute was saved by an Army West Point back.

Following an evenly played opening 27 minutes, Whiteman struck twice in just 3:46 to stake the Black Knights to a commanding lead. He opened the scoring when he headed in a corner kick from Keenan O'Shea, and then finished another header at the far post moments later off a feed from Zac McGraw.

Siena will look to conclude its four-match homestand on a high note when the Saints host Sacred Heart Saturday at 3 p.m.
