For the second straight year Siena Women's Golf made history at the Dartmouth Invitational. The Saints shot a new program record low round score of 298 punctuated by an individual program record low round score of 66 by
Sara Riso.
Riso, who won the event last year following a Final Round record-setting score of 69, shattered her own program individual benchmark by three strokes. At -6, she holds a two-stroke clubhouse lead over UAlbany's Megan Henry entering the final 18 holes Sunday.
As a team, Siena stands tied for third overall with host Dartmouth after carding the first sub-300 round in program history. The Saints broke the previous team record of 301 by three strokes, which was also set during the First Round of last year's event.
UAlbany holds the clubhouse lead, although Siena is just nine strokes off the pace.
Grace Cuttone shot 75 and
Ashley Nguyen carded a 78 to round out the Saints' First Round leaderboard.
Riso will look to defend her crown when she and the Saints conclude action with a shotgun start Sunday at the Hanover Country Club.
