Sara Riso continued a strong start to her senior season at the Hartford Hawks Invitational Saturday, shooting even, 70 to tie Hartford's Maria Loza atop the individual leaderboard after one round of play.
The Hamburg, New York native helped Siena Women's Golf conclude day one of the 36-hole event in second place out of eight teams, trailing the host Hawks by eight strokes.
In action for the fourth straight week to begin the 2018-19 season, Siena shot +22, 302 on the par-70, 6,623-yard course at the Wintonberry Hills Golf Course in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The team's second-place tally as its highest single-day mark in a tournament setting since finishing as the runner-up at the Bucknell Invite to kick off the 2016-17 campaign.
Along with Riso, sophomore
Grace Cuttone secured a top-10 place halfway through competition, shooting +8, 78 to tie with golfers from Hartford, Sacred Heart and Long Island for 6th place.

Ashley Nguyen and sophomore
Abigail Chai-Onn each sit knotted for 18th place individually (+11, 81), while freshman
Lena Kaufman rounds out the five-woman squad in a split for 33rd (+15, 85).
The Hartford Hawks Invitational concludes on Sunday, Sept. 30, with the final round of play commencing in a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
