The Siena Saints men's tennis team looked to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss on Friday, but could not get things going on the court Sunday morning as they were defeated by the Boston University Terriers by a final of 7-0.
In doubles,
Matt Bellino and
Sagar Bains at 2 doubles played well and went up 5-2 in the match. It would go unfinished, as the Saints would win on the court. However, the Saints fell at 1 and 3, losing the point to the Terriers.
In singles, freshman Tomas Del Olmo played a great first set losing 7-5 in breaker before falling in straight sets. Siena would drop on all the other courts as well, as the Terriers swept the Saints.
"Boston University is an extremely talented team that I feel have a good opportunity to win there conference this year," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "Hopefully we can learn from this weekend and keep getting stronger as season progresses."
The Saints return to action Friday, Feb. 1 when they face St. John's at Tri-City for their first home match of 2019 at 6 p.m.
