Beginning its spring slate in the Sunshine State for the fourth straight season, Siena Women's Golf got off to an impressive start at the Lonnie Barton Invitational the LPGA Course in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Saints shot +26, 314 to conclude day one in third place out of 14 competing squads, including MAAC foe Fairfield (+41, ninth place).
"Windy conditions and our first tournament since October made scoring a little tough, but we played really well in stretches," Head Coach
Dave Wronowski said. "I was very happy for
Grace Cuttone. She's been working very hard on her game and played great today."
Sophomore
Grace Cuttone began her 2019 campaign by shooting a career best +2, 74 on the par-72, 6071-yard LPGA International-Jones course to end the first round in a split for fifth place individually with Mount St. Mary's' Olivia Gardenhour. Senior
Sara Riso was not far behind shooting +5, 77 to land in a four-way split for 11th place overall.
Landing in the middle of the pack following the first round of competition were senior
Ashley Nguyen (+9, 81) and freshman
Lena Kaufman (+10, 82), who concluded the day in ties for 28th and 31st, respectively. Senior
Abigail Chai-Onn (+12, 43) currently sits in a knot for 43rd, while junior
