It would be a tough day on the courts for the Siena women's tennis team, as they hit the road to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats. The Saints got in an early hole after doubles play, falling 6-1 for their second MAAC loss of the season.
The Saints fell behind in doubles despite a win on court two from senior
Natalie Weaver and freshman
Dilara Spicer by a score of 6-4. With the Green and Gold falling on courts 1 and 3, they trailed 1-0 heading into singles play.
In singles, the Saints saw their lone point come from a win on court 5 by freshman
Laura Becker, as she won 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 over Quinnipiac's Layla Rodriguez.
Meagan Brown,
Nanea Perkins, and
Natalie Weaver all went three sets on their respective courts.
"Although the score didn't show it, the women battled today with several close matches," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "We just need to work on converting on opportunities going forward. We also need to tighten up on doubles before our next match."
Siena returns to the court next Saturday, April 13 when they head to the Bronx to take on Fordham at 3:30 p.m.
