CANTON, MA – Siena Women's Golf junior Abigail Chai-Onn used the 12th hole of the Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, Massachusetts to log the team's first eagle of the season as they concluded play at the Boston College Intercollegiate Tuesday. Overall, the Saints placed 12th (+113, 977) and used the final round of play to shoot a team-best +34, 322.
Working behind the eagle combined with a birdie on hole four, Chai-Onn shot a team-best +2, 74 in the third round on the par-72, 6,137-yard course, moving up to land in a tie for 20th place individually. Classmate Grace Cuttone, who led the Saints individually during the first two rounds, birdied the final hole of the day to finish +7, 79 and in a tie for 33rd on the week.
Senior captain Marisa Fiorina and freshman Isabella Diaz both improved their scores to shoot tournament bests in the final round, with Fiorina carding 85 to finish in a split for 69th and Diaz rounding out her second collegiate tournament with 84 to end in a knot for 76th. Sophomore Lena Kaufman rounded out the Saints' five-women competition team in their second straight appearance at the events, shooting 94 in the final round to finish 73rd.
Cal State Fullerton shot +30, 894 on the week to take home the team title of 13 other squads, with MAAC schools UAlbany (third), Quinnipiac (T-fifth) and Hartford (11th) also taking part in the tournament. St. Johns' Linda Wang captured individual medalist honors by shooting +3, 219 at the 54-hole event.
Siena will continue its fall campaign with its third consecutive week of competition this weekend at the Hartford Hawks Invitational in Bloomfield, CT, set for Sept. 28 & 29.
