The Siena Saints men's tennis squad fell just short in their first matchup of 2020, as they fell to the Saint Joseph Hawks by a final score of 5-2.
The Saints were led by singles wins from
Muhammad Sawani and
Guillermo Lopez Torres. Lopez Torres would snag a 7-5, 6-4 win at #3 singles, while at #4 singles Sawani would get a 6-4, 6-4 win. Despite a loss at #6 singles, senior
Matt Bellino would run a three-set thriller to the wire, falling 2-6, 6-2, 7-10. In doubles,
Matt Nardone and
Sagar Bains would take a 6-4 win, but would the Hawks would win the other two doubles matches for the doubles point.
The Green and Gold return to the court on Feb. 1 when they head to Bethlehem to take on Lehigh. Opening serve gets the match started at 5 p.m.
