LATHAM, NY – Senior
Juliana Goehner celebrated her senior day with the Siena women's tennis program, and came out of the day with another pair of victories in a strong fourth-year campaign, as the Saints defeated Lafayette by a final score of 6-1.
"It was a nice win before we hit a three-week break," said head coach
Jeff Osborn. "Getting a win for our seniors today will be a nice memory for them to take with them."
Goehner currently leads the Saints in total victories this season with 22, now with 12 singles wins and the first to double-digit doubles wins with 10. She led the doubles play to start the day, as her and
Nanea Perkins pulled out a 7-6 (2) win at #2 doubles. Both of the other doubles pairs swept through, as Siena took an early 1-0 lead.
Siena also ran through singles play, as the only Lafayette point came from a retirement from the Saints. Goehner was one of three Saints who were victorious in straight sets, as she won 6-3, 7-5.
The Saints will take a lengthy break, hitting the court next on Saturday, March 21 when they head east to take on the Rhode Island Rams. Opening serve for the match gets things going at 3:45 p.m.
