LOUDONVILLE, NY – Coming into their third home match in a four-match home stretch, Siena Volleyball returns to the UHY Center Sunday afternoon to take on the Canisius Golden Griffins beginning at 1 p.m.
Siena (3-16, 3-5) comes off a defeat from the Niagara Purple Eagles in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-17) Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Olga Sawinska was a standout for the Saints, scoring 11 kills on the afternoon. Sophomore
Meghan Johnsson tossed out 35 assists as the setter, while freshman
Grace Wilhelm led the defensive effort with 14 digs. Senior
Abby Huffman came close to a double-digit performance, finishing with nine kills.
The Golden Griffins swept a pair of MAAC matches on the road last weekend, posting a 3-2 comeback win at Iona, before making short-work of Manhattan with a 3-0 sweep. Those two road wins for the Griffs stand as the team's first victories away from the Koessler Athletic Center this season. However, they would be stopped on Saturday afternoon in a 3-1 loss to Marist.
The match will be the 55th all-time meeting between the two programs. The Golden Griffins and Saints met earlier this season, which went in favor of Canisius by a final of 3-2. Canisius has won the last three matchups – however, the Griffs have not won at Siena since the 2018 campaign.

Fans wishing to attend any Siena Athletics games held on campus are required to adhere to the Siena Athletics Spectator Policy. All spectators are required to complete the Siena Athletics Spectator Screening Form at sienasaints.com/spectatorregistration, and receive clearance to attend, prior to their arrival on campus. All spectators must be vaccinated to be able to attend, and are required to bring proof of vaccination with them to campus. Unvaccinated children 12 and under must remain masked at all times. Spectators are requested to enter campus via Route 9 through the College's main gate on Loudon Road and check in at the Welcome Booth. All forms of tailgating are also currently prohibited at this time. This policy is guided by the alert level established by Siena College's COVID-19 Operations Team and is subject to change based on current conditions. Siena College and the athletic department will continue to monitor developments and alert spectators of any adjustments made to this policy.
