LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Saints will play their regular season finale on Saturday afternoon, as the Green and Gold host the Marist Red Foxes as the UHY Center at 1 p.m. The match will also be Siena's Senior Day, as the Saints will honor seniors
Maddy Dunigan,
Meg Giordano,
Abby Huffman, and
Naesha Kelley.
With a win on Saturday, the Saints will clinch the No. 7 seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament next weekend, which is being held at the UHY Center Friday through Sunday. In the event of a loss, the Saints will maintain the No. 7 seed if Iona falls to Quinnipiac on Sunday. If the Gaels beat the Bobcats with a Siena loss, the Saints will be the tournament's No. 8 seed.
The Siena Volleyball team closed out their weekend on the road on last Sunday, as the Green and Gold fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats in Hamden by a 3-1 (19-25, 21-25, 25-22, 16-25) final score. Siena was led by a pair of 11 kill efforts from graduate student
Emily Wunder and senior
Abby Huffman. Senior
Maddy Dunigan and freshman
Sara Wagner each also had 10 kills apiece while sophomore
Greta Stjade and freshman
Olga Sawinska each had seven kills. Defensively, junior
Gracie Halley had 17 digs.
The Red Foxes are currently 17-11 overall, and 12-5 in the MAAC. That record puts Marist in third place, half-a-game behind second-place Rider. In the first meeting between the teams this season, the Red Foxes earned a 3-0 victory in Poughkeepsie on Oct. 16.
Siena has won the last three meetings between the schools, and own a 33-10 advantage over the Peacocks. Both teams last met in the fall of 2019, with Siena coming out with a 3-1 at the UHY Center. Then-sophomore
Maddy Dunigan broke out with a new career-high in kills on Saturday afternoon, as she exploded for 16 kills and six blocks.
The match will be streamed on Siena All-Access, with Alez Feuz and
