Siena Women's Golf opened its 26th season of action Sunday, as it competed against nine other regional schools at the Knights Shootout hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson at the Watchung Hills Country Club in Watchung, New Jersey. The Saints placed ninth out of 10 teams, shooting +56, 344.
St. John's took the title in the 18-hole event, shooting +22, 310 to win by seven strokes. The host Knights took second, while MAAC counterparts Fairfield (3rd), Monmouth (8th), and La Salle (10th) also took part.
Junior Lena Kaufman led the Saints in their first action in over a year, shooting +11, 83 to land in a five-way tie for 23rd. Senior Grace Cuttone followed a stroke behind, carding +12, 84 to land in a three-way split for 28th. Transfer sophomore Emily Nash used the tournament to make her debut in the Green and Gold, shooting +15, 87 to end in a knot for 42nd. Sophomore Isabella Diaz (+18, 90) and freshman Margot Osterman (+26, 98) rounded out the Saints' five-women competition squad in a tie for 46th and 55th, respectively.
Siena will be back in action to continue the Spring 2021 season on Monday, March 29, when it travels to Neptune, NJ to face MAAC rival Monmouth for dual match action.
