LOUDONVILLE, NY – Competing in her third event in the Green and Gold since transferring to Siena mid-season, Women's Golf sophomore Emily Nash tied for medalist honors while helping the Saints to place second at the Hawks Spring Series hosted by MAAC foe Monmouth in Neptune, New Jersey.
With the team working on a short turnaround after competing at the Hartford/Wintonbury Hills Invitational over the weekend, Siena finished at +41, 329 to land just two strokes off team winner Fairleigh Dickinson in the seven-team field. The Saints finished ahead of conference counterparts Monmouth (T-3, 342) and La Salle (6th, 378).
Nash tied Sacred Heart's Margot Rouquette for the top spot in the 18-hole event, shooting +5, 77 on the par-72, 5,082-yard course. The Lunenburg, Massachusetts product became the first Siena golfer to win or tie for an individual medal since Sara Riso won the Sacred Heart Spring Invite on April 8, 2019. Rouquette was declared the overall medalist following a match of scorecards.
Following up a solid performance over the weekend, sophomore Isabella Diaz shot +7, 79 to claim sole possession of third place, while senior Grace Cuttone tied for fourth at +8, 80. Junior Lena Kaufman finished in a two-way tie for 26th at +21, 93, while freshman Margot Osterman rounded out the Saints' competition team in a knot for 32nd at +26, 98.
Now at the halfway point in it's Spring 2021 season, Siena will return to play next weekend, competing at the Sacred Heart Spring Invite in Milford, Connecticut April 10-11.
