SCHENECTADY, NY - The Siena Men's Tennis team ended their season on a high note, as they defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles by a final score of 6-1 at Central Park in Schenectady. Despite the win, the Saints lose a tiebreaker with the Marist Red Foxes, falling just short of the fourth seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament.
The Green and Gold would take the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3. The pair of
Tomas del Olmo and
Guillermo Lopez Torres would take a 6-4 win, while
Geovanny Mendoza and
Darek Kuczynski would win 6-2 to help attain the 1-0 lead.
The Saints also took care of business in singles play, with the top two courts splitting between Siena and Niagara. Court 1 would go to del Olmo, as he came through with a big 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 win. From Court 3 through 6, the Saints swept through those final four in straight sets on each.
Siena concludes their 2020-21 season with a 4-4 overall record, and a 2-3 mark in the MAAC.
