BLOOMFIELD, CT – Siena Women's Golf rounded out a solid weekend in its third competition of the Fall 2021 season Sunday. The Saints placed third at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, Connecticut to finish ahead of a pair of conference foes.
Sacred Heart (+40, 616) took the team title on the par-72, 5,814-yard course, while also boasting the individual medalist finisher in Margot Rouquette (+4, 148). The Saints finished only a stroke behind Merrimack with +47, 623, and landed ahead of MAAC counterparts Monmouth (fifth) and Fairfield (sixth).
Coming off solid rounds in the opening 18 holes of play, juniors
Emily Nash and
Isabella Diaz shot 77 and 76, respectively to finish at +7, 151 in a tie for third place individually. Freshman
Jillian Barend carded 79 Sunday to compile 180 on the weekend and finish tied for 17
th, while freshman
Manoela Barcellos (84, 164) and sophomore
Margot Osterman (81, 179) placed 25
th and tied for 45
th, respectively, to round out the team's competition squad. Competing as an individual, senior
Lena Kaufman improved four strokes with a 79 in the final round to finish at 162 in a tie for 20
th.
Siena will have next weekend off before returning to action to continue its fall campaign at the Quinnipiac Classic in Wallingford, Connecticut October 11-12.
