Siena Women's Soccer secured its first point in conference play, battling Manhattan to a scoreless draw Saturday afternoon at rainy Gaelic Park.
Angela Fini made six saves to earn her first career clean sheet for the Saints.
Siena (1-7-3, 0-2-1) harbored a 10-9 edge in shots, while Manhattan (2-4-2, 0-2-1) held an 8-6 margin in corners in an evenly played match. However, the Saints created the better of the scoring opportunities.
Siena had two great chances in the first half. In the 16
th minute, a long shot in by
Melina Ortiz bounced passed the keeper who came way off her line, but was cleared off the back line by a defender.
Annie Bagnall then had a good look in the 36
th minute, heading a free kick which came from the deep right corner off the crossbar.
Bagnall, who along with
Cora Keohane posted a team-high three shots, had one final strong look in the 87
th minute. But her free kick from straight on just outside the top of the 18 went just high and wide right as the Saints had to settle for their second scoreless draw this season.
Kim Mains made two saves to also record a shutout for the Jaspers, who also tallied their first point in league play.
Following a season-long three-match road trip in which they went an even 1-1-1, the Saints return to the friendly confines of Loudonville for a pair of big MAAC matches next week. Siena resumes action Wednesday when they host Canisius at 4 p.m.
