BUFFALO, NY – Siena Men's Soccer (5-3-3, 1-0-2) logged at least one point for the third straight contest to begin MAAC play during the 2022 season. The Saints have now gone four straight halves without scoring after playing Canisius (1-5-4, 0-2-1) to a scoreless draw at Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo Wednesday afternoon.
After tying Manhattan at home last Saturday, the Saints headed west to begin a two-match road trip and found the same result, marking the program's first consecutive draws since 2017 and the first consecutive scoreless draws ever.
Both teams displayed a relatively even performance on paper, with each squad turning in 15 total shots, including seven in the first half and eight in the second. Siena held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks drawn, while drawing 12 of 22 fouls. Sophomore Henrik Winkelmann led the Saints with four shots from the midfield position, while classmate Jacob Sandun Arachchige-Jensen and junior Junior Kone each rattled off three attempts.
Graduate student goalkeeper Greg Monroe logged five saves to move ahead of Carlos Duran (1987-90) for the third-most in program history. The Clifton Park, New York native now needs 12 more saves to tie for second place all-time, and 16 to become the program's career saves leader.
Siena will look to continue its three-match unbeaten streak on Saturday, October 8, when it travels south to Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field to face off with Defending MAAC Champion Marist at 7 PM.
