Nanea Perkins clinched the match-winning point on Sunday evening, as the Siena Saints defeated the Seton Hall Pirates by a final score of 5-2 on the road.
Siena clinched the doubles point early on using the #2 and #3 pairings of Perkins and
Maanya Viswanath, as well as Koniaev and
Shelby Madeiros. Perkins and Viswanath won 6-4, while Koniaev and Madeiros scored a 7-6 (5) win at #3.
In singles,
Laia Giralt and Perkins won at the #2 and #3 singles spots, with Giralt's win coming by default. After Koniaev won her match 7-6 (8), 6-2 to give Siena the 3-2 lead, Perkins clinched with a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7) comeback victory. Freshman
Jade Gautier added the final victory at #6 singles to close out the match.
The Saints return to action next Sunday, Mar. 27 when they head east to take on UMass at 1 p.m.
