SCHENECTADY, NY - The Siena Women's Tennis team opened up MAAC play in commanding fashion on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated the Marist Red Foxes by a final score of 6-1 from Central Park.
The Saints started the day strong, grabbing the doubles point early thanks to wins at #1 doubles and #3 doubles. The duo of
Meagan Brown and
Laia Giralt set the tone with a 6-3 win at the top of the lineup, while
Nanea Perkins and
Anastasia Koniaev notched a 6-4 win to give Siena the 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Koniaev took the first win 6-0 in retirement, as the Saints tore through the Red Foxes lineup. Junior
Maanya Viswanath won the clinching point at #5 singles 6-2, 6-3 as Siena won the last four courts of the day.
The Saints return to action this week, with a day and time TBD against the Rider Broncs.
