JERSEY CITY, NJ – Looking to continue momentum into Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play after totaling its most non-league wins in a season since 2016, thus far, Siena Softball (13-11, 2-0) rolled to a doubleheader sweep of conference foe Saint Peter's Saturday afternoon at Jaroschak Field in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Saints followed up a 5-0 shutout win with an 8-1 decision to extend their win streak to four and move to 2-0 to start MAAC play for the first time since 2015.

The Green and Gold begin the day with their second shutout victory in four days, with senior right-hander
Ava Fitzmaurice continuing to dazzle in the circle. The Greenville, New York native struck out three while allowing just a single hit to improve to 8-4 on the year, while the Saints offense continued on the other side of the field. The visitors got out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a sacrifice bunt from junior

The team's lead was instantly boosted two innings later, with freshman
Kyleigh Potter blasting a three-run home run to left field for her team-leading third big-fly of the season to put the Saints up, 4-0. Senior
Sabrina Vargas finished out the team's scoring by reaching on an error in the sixth to pave the way for junior
Shannon Bonewit to score from third. Siena tallied nine hits offensively, while limiting the Peacocks to just one baserunner in the entire game.

The Saints' defensive consistency continued into game two, while the offense came alive to out-hit the Peacocks, 12-7. A four-run second inning propelled Siena in front early, with an RBI double from junior
Angelina Stile sending home Potter, an RBI single off the bat of Vargas scoring Stile and junior
Emma McLaughlin, and an RBI single from Pardo allowing Vargas to cross. The Saint's bats would continue to send in runs in the early innings, with a McLaughlin RBI double and an RBI single from junior
Jocelyn Ulrich making it 6-0 in favor of the Green and Gold after three.

Nicole Patille (4-2) struck out one batter in four innings on the circle before handing the ball over to freshman
Adriana Romano, who downed four batters over three scoreless innings of relief to earn the save. Following a sacrifice fly from Potter to score Pardo in the top of the fourth, the home team got on the board in the bottom of the inning with an RBI infield single, but the Saints slammed the door shut defensively while an Ulrich RBI single in the seventh gave the game its final score. Five Saints put forth multi-hit outings, with McLaughlin crossing the plate three times and both Ulrich and Stile picking up a pair of RBI's.
Following the team's third doubleheader sweep in the last eight days, Siena will look to finish off the weekend on a high note with doubleheader action at defending MAAC Champion Manhattan Sunday afternoon. Action in Riverdale, NY is set for Noon and 2 PM.
