WILTON, NY – Competing in a Siena-hosted tournament for the first time in 11 years, Siena Women's Golf commenced its 2022-23 season Friday at the Saratoga Invitational, playing a sunny 18 holes at McGregor Links Country Club in Wilton, New York.
Hofstra leads the three-team field following the opening round after shooting 302, while the Saints carded 321 as a team to sit in second and Saint Rose shot 350 to finish the day in third. Notably, Hofstra's Cynthia Zhao shot an impressive -4, 68 to set her program's single round scoring record.
Sophomore Manoela Barcellos and freshman Mackenzie Whitney steadied the Green and Golf on the par-72, 5,939-yard course, with both carding a round of +7, 79 to finish the day tied for fifth individually. Sophomore Jillian Barend (+8, 80) ended the day in eighth, while senior Isabella Diaz (+11, 83) tied for ninth and classmate Emily Nash (+16, 88) finished in 13th.
The Saints will conclude weekend action at the Saratoga Invitational on Saturday, September 17, with tee times from round one beginning at 8 AM.
